All Womens Noosa Camp August

For all those girls who had never competed in a triathlon or are new to the sport, the all girls Noosa Triathlon themed camp held in late August in Noosa Heads was an opportunity to good to pass up for seventeen ladies of all ages and abilities.  A great chance to learn over a weekend filled with activities and supply the answers to questions such as “What’s it like swimming in open water surrounded by hundreds of people and how do I survive!”, “how do I change a flat tyre?” and “what does transition mean?”

Like all Noosa Tri Camp packages, the All Women's Camp featured specific clinics run by professionals in their own field topics such as nutrition for optimal performance and general day to day, body maintenance and injury prevention plus Yoga with a triathlon and female twist.  All aspects of the Noosa triathlon are covered with the girls taking in the Noosa tri course over the weekend in parts but in a fun and relaxed environment with the social interaction and end of day activities at local cafes very much and important part of the weekend's bonding and culture.

The Noosa Tri themed camps cater for all athletes from those relatively new to the sport and are either doing their first season up to seasoned age group champions that are looking to continue their progress in the sport.

The all girls camp allowed the ladies to come away from the camp with the knowledge and training know how, confidence and skills to get to the finish line but having a few laughs and some fun along the way.

As part of this years Noosa Tri Camps schedule Nick and Jess had the opportunity to travel to Japan in early September to work with a Hong Kong Based Club - the Tritons. Held on the northern most island of Hokkaido and based in the well known ski area of Niseko, the camp catered for 20 athletes of varying abilities.

Focusing on the bike as an emphasis to take in the stunning surrounds the 6 day program kept the campers and coaches very busy. The summer activities of the region are just starting to be relised by the 'outside world' and cycling is one of the fastest growing past times making significant progress.

The Niseko Bike week is organised from the middle of September and caters for riders from tourist to A grade ability with plenty of different events, distances and activities available. One of the highlights of the tri camp was swimming in Lake Toya just 40km from the Niseko area and is one of the worlds clearest lakes.

The final day of the camp saw a mini tri being held at the lake and gave the campers a way to test themselves before the final few events as the Asian season wraps up. The local dining and food was simply the best with heathly traditional meals at the end of the day much sort after.

A few of the campers are planning on the Noosa triathlon this year but in 2011 many are planning a holiday around the event. One luckly camper won an entry to Noosa Triathlon in 2011 as well and the MSC produced Noosa Tri course DVD. Overall, a great introduction to a new region and one the the best kept secrets as a training and holiday destination for anyone who wans to keep active in beautiful surrounds.
