Women only Triathlon course

Whether you’re in your first or second season of triathlon and training for sprint to Olympic distance races, or simply wanted the opportunity to get some cross-training fitness through swim / bike / run in a structured, coached environment - this course is perfect for you.

Duration:
6 weeks, 5.30am - 7am. Monday / Tuesday / Thursday.
Coach: Jess Fleming
Start date: Starting 1st of February 2016
Cost: $360.00 

Venues:
- Noosa Aquatic Centre/ Girraween Sports complex/ Noosa main beach/ Noosa National park / Roads in and around Noosa region. More specific information will be supplied to athletes closer to commencement of the course.

Course outline:
• Swim technique
• Open water swim technique
• Bike technique and basic bike mechanics
• Road Riding / Riding in a group / Road safety
• Run – injury prevention
• Run – interval training
• Transition training swim to bike to run , putting it all together on race day, what to expect.
• Strength training for Triathlon

This course main focus is to take the beginner triathlete from the individual sports to start getting comfortable putting the three sports together through transition to form the triathlon race.

FAQ

1. Who is this course for?

Answer: Women who are currently swimming, riding , running but with no structure and would like to take the next step to master a triathlon. You might be a runner who does RPM classes at the gym and used to swim when you were younger or someone who has dabbled in all three sports but never had the courage to take the leap to join any squads or sign up for a triathlon, this course is for you.

2. I work on those days so I cannot join in at the set times but I am super keen to get into triathlon but don’t know where to start?

Answer: Multisportconsultants offer Squad training every weekday tailored for working athletes. See website for info: www.mscsport.com.au MSC also offers a 3 day all womens camp in September each year.

3. I want to join in but I have never ridden my bike on the road as I am terrified of the traffic. Can I still come along?

Answer: Yes, the riding we will do will be utilizing Noosa’s great Girraween complex and Gyndier drive which are both closed to traffic, while transitioning onto some road riding in the group. Great opportunity for the novice rider to get some experience.

4. I have signed up for the Noosa Triathlon this year but don’t know where to start, is this course going to be good for me?

Answer: Although this isn’t tailored for you specifically the course will still be greatly beneficial to putting all the 3 elements together and how to train correctly for a triathlon. The course finishes with a mini sprint one week before Noosa Triathlon which would be a great opportunity to practice the transition aspect and putting it all together in a race situation before the big event.
It would not be recommended ONLY doing the 3 sessions per week for six weeks prior to Noosa Tri as you would also need to complement the course with your own sessions, either through our online tailored training programs and/or joining our excisting training squads in Noosa.

5. What equipment do I need to be able to participate in this course?

Answer: You’ll need the following:
• Road worthy bike, optional bike shoes and clip in cleats
• Helmet
• Running shoes , HR monitor is optional but can be beneficial going forward in your own training as we’ll touch on this in the course
• Swimmers and goggles, fins , wetsuit optional for our open water segment, you might want to look into borrowing one initially.

6. The amount of $ 360.00 seems a little bit expensive, what do I get for my money?

Answer: A great kickstart into some healthy habits in a structured routine with invaluable insite into the sport. 3 x 2h sessions per week for 6 weeks plus a mini triathlon at the end. Nutrition samples / Trucker Cap / Sponsors goody bag/ discount voucher for triathlon related gear.
