Camp - February 2013
The Noosa Tri Camps February 2013 Ironman / Long distance camp saw MSC move into the fifth year of organisation. The long distance camps are five days in duration and volumes undertaken over this period total approx 480km of cycling, 50k running and 7km swimming. Along with specialist clinics in nutrition to devise both race day nutrition and training plans, open water swim clinic, recovery sessions in Yoga specific to triathlon and the famous body spanner clinic the campers also have the chance for campers to chat while riding and running alongside coaches Nick and Jess to ask questions relevant to themselves plus group forums during the camp to have open discussion to ask any questions about the sport and let the discussion take various pathways. On the final day of the camp there is a half Ironman event that puts the nutrition and (IM) pacing strategies to the test and is a great way to build the confidence after the previous 4 days of hard work.
The February Ironman / Long distance Camp (you don’t have to be doing an Ironman to come along) is well placed for the first three Ironman events of the new year in Australia falling around four to five weeks before Melbourne, ten weeks before Port Macquarie and fifteen weeks before Cairns. This year there were athletes competing at each of these events so the placement of the camp is at different points of the camper’s preparations for their respective goal events. This year there were more ladies then men for the first time with the ratio around 60 % female to 40 % male which is the growing trend in many triathlon events in recent times. It is not all about the training though with various meals provided taking in some fine Noosa cuisine and making the most of the tourist strip and being social with the new found camp buddies and making the Noosa tri camps experience a great way to immerse oneself into a block of preparation and gain the confidence and motivation to get to the finish line.
Noosa Tri Camps are also holding an Ironman Cairns preparation Camp over three days April 12-14 in Cairns over the Ironman Cairns course with the next Long distance Camp at Noosa being held in October 2-6 which is a great preparation block for Ironman WA in December.
